Professional Skills

Writing and analytical skills are my strong-suit. I like to think that my Technical Writing classes at CSULB taught me how to be thorough in what I do, in what I write, and in what I read. The Technical Writing program at CSULB taught focused on technical writing and technical editing. I took courses which taught me how to write memos, cover letters, resumes, letters, proposals, grants, manuals, and more. After writing proposals and user manuals, I have come to appreciate and understand the amount of thought that needs to be behind any kind of technical document. I have also developed critical thinking skills and a thorough understanding of the different styles and formats of technical writing.

Work Experience

Technical Writer (Aug 2012 - May 2015)

As a technical writer for Applied Technologies Center, I was responsible for creating and formatting work instructions, procedures, forms, and other documents to assist the company in becoming compliant with ISO 9000 standards. I worked with engineers, technicians, and other staff to document assembly and test processes critical to the manufacturing and development of products.

Freelance Writer (Feb 2012 - Mar 2013)

As a freelance writer for TopDrawerSoccer.com, I contacted clients on behalf of the TopDrawerSoccer website. After interviewing the clients, I wrote articles focused on the client’s soccer camp, tournament, or program. These articles were then published to the TopDrawerSoccer website. See the Writing Samples page for samples of my professional work.

Intern (Aug. - Oct. 2011)

I worked as an intern for the Long Beach Art Exchange drafting grants  as well as promoting the Art Exchange through participation in community service events.

Peer Mentor (Aug. - Oct. 2010)

As a Peer Mentor for the CSULB Learning Alliance, I assisted the staff in teaching a lower division course designed to introduce incoming freshmen to the University. I was responsible for part of each lesson. I assisted in the development and presentation of course content. I was also responsible for organizing out-of-class events to foster connections between the students. In addition, I was responsible for helping the students develop their course schedules and register for classes. In addition, once the course was over I was responsible for assisting other students within the College of Liberal Arts with course registration.
